  • I really think we should have only one page per card, no matter how many times it has been released. We can already list the different releases on the current card template and add navigation sections at the bottom for each card release. Just need to edit the template to support displaying more than one card image. What do you think?

Looks like adding more images works ok, breaks the navigation though. Mind taking a look at http://mlpccg.wikia.com/wiki/MLP_CCG_Wikia_Test_Page

    • I would prefer the multiple pages per card approach that we currently have. From what I looked into when creating the templates, Wikia doesn't have a good, simple way to seperate content (such as individual card images) with buttons or slideshows or anything (I don't like the default slideshows personally), and putting all the content for cards released from multiple sets (such as bottom set table templates) just increases the vertical clutter of the overall pages.

    • How about if they were tabs? http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Tabber

    • Tabs are functional but they're kind of plain-looking, I never really liked them on the old templates but they were the closest thing to that kind of functionality. If we were to use tabs for the current templates, we would either need the entire card information entered multiple times in a giant top-level tab (this would make the page code super-messy) or we would need seperate tabs for the images, the release information, the release templates, etc. (which would make the actual page super-messy).

    • Check out http://mlpccg.wikia.com/wiki/MLP_CCG_Wikia_Test_Page now. It currently doesn't work since it exceeds the template include max, but that should be fixable. Maybe just working the tabs inside the card template would be enough reduction in code (plus you wouldn't need to repeat all the entries like I did here).

    • Yeah, I don't think the tabber design meshes well with the rest of the page. Plus I don't believe (this is from memory, they might have changed it) that there's any way to set the default tab on the page, I think there's a way to change the overall default tab for all tabbers, but that would create problems when using the release templates to navigate. I personally don't see the problem with using multiple pages for rereleased cards.

    • Mostly the problem with multiple pages is from a logic standpoint (why are parallel foils on the main page but promo foils aren't). Plus it would make a single location for card discussion/errata/adding new releases.

Looks like HeaderTabs is a better extension which we could request be enabled example showing you can load on a specific tab and link between tabs (so you could click a link in the Releases section to switch to that release) http://help.gamepedia.com/HeaderTabs_Example#tab=Second_section_header Wikia info: http://dev.wikia.com/wiki/Extension:HeaderTabs

    • Logically, the (not-promo) foil cards come from the same location (packs) and have 99% of the same card appearance as their non-foil counterparts. I'm not too concerned personally about having to go to two pages to add/edit information, the centralized commenting could be a concern but I believe most of the commenting is done on the regular (not promo) articles anyways.

    • What if the alternate versions of a card were sub-pages under it? Like "Cloud Chaser" for the mane page, then "Cloud Chaser/Premiere Promo" for the special version?

It would put a <Cloud Chaser link at the top of the sub page. See http://mlpccg.wikia.com/wiki/Shining_Armor/Princess_Cadance,_Fastball_Special for one we accidentally made.

    • Then the sub pages would still be on their own seperate pages, which is no different than the current system in place. Tomorrow I'll look into if we can remove the link on the SA/Cadance UR, kind of preoccupied tonight.

    • Yes, I was just saying for organization it might be nice if the alternate releases were sub-pages.
